Imperfect. Not enough. Not suitable. Not meeting expectations. Would you use these words for waste fabric?
This gift wrap (with strings attached) consists of 2 pieces of waste fabric. The brighter fabric with the flower pattern had a big square hole in it. Instead of working around this big hole, Edith decided to integrate it into the design of the gift wrap. The fringes are not cut away, but are carefully embroidered by hand with a very simple backstitch onto the darker fabric.

Broken things do not need to be hidden away, so they look "perfect". As if nothing happened. Sometimes you just need to watch things from another perspective and what's meant to be ugly reveales it's beauty!

Wrapping your gifts in cloth is a simple ancient japanese tradition. It gives you the opportunity to add additional value to your present and the receiver has the convenience to reuse them. When they stay within the family, they will also contribute to a more hassle-free Christmas, as you will not have to worry year after year again over your wrapping options, which can easily turn into a pricey last minute challenge. Many single use gift wraps are not even recyclable.

The production of cloth is very time and resource intense and can be very abusive to nature and humans alike. Being careful and not throwing things away easily doesn't cost each individual much and can make big changes!

Fabric gift wraps are very versatile. They can also be reused for any other occasion, which makes them a resourceful item for the whole year.

Locally made, out of locally gathered remnants and cut offs, reusable and easy to repurpose, this furoshiki style gift wraps with strings represents an as-eco-friendly-as-can be solution.

You can use this wrap by tying knots like a furoshiki and you just hide the strings underneath... or use the strings in order to broaden the adaptability to the size of your gift and fix it.
